2008 Rider Qualifications

Expert:
- A rider may request an immediate upgrade to Expert status based on his/her
racing experience.
- Expert status is required to ride in the Pro class.
Intermediate:
- Any rider that has never won a STTARS Open Pro, Open Expert or 450cc class
main event may enter the Intermediate class.
- Riders with Intermediate status may enter any class other than Beginner,
Novice or Pro.
- Winning an Intermediate class
championship makes that rider no longer eligible to enter Intermediate the
following year.
Novice:
- Any rider that has never won a STTARS main event (with at
least 10 riders entered) may enter the Novice
class.
- Riders with Novice status may enter any class other than Beginner or Pro.
- Winning a Novice class championship
makes that rider no longer eligible to enter Novice the
following year.
Beginner:
- Any amateur-level rider with one year or less of supermoto racing experience
may enter the Beginner class.
- Any rider moving up from Mini-moto classes can start as a Beginner on the
"Big" bikes.
- A seasoned STTARS rider that has never finished 5th or better in a STTARS
race (with at
least 10 riders entered) can request reinstatement to Beginner
status.
- Beginner riders may also enter the following classes--Novice, 250, Vet
30/40 or any Mini-moto class.
- While series points are not tracked for the Beginner class, a 10-Point System
is used for purpose of upgrading a rider's
status.
1st place finish - 6 points
2nd place finish - 3 points
3rd place finish - 2 points
- Earning 10 points in the Beginner class bumps a rider out of the
class.
